Frequently Asked Questions About Self-Storage Facilities
When considering a self-storage facility, it’s natural to have questions about security, pricing, access, and more. Here’s a helpful compilation of frequently asked questions to guide you in making an informed decision about your storage needs.
What size storage units are available?
We offer a range of unit sizes to accommodate different storage needs—from small units perfect for boxes and small furniture to large units that can house vehicles or the contents of a full-sized home. Our most common sizes are 5’x8’, 8’x10’, and 10’x10’, however we have larger sizes available as well.
How secure are the storage units?
Security is a top priority. Our facilities are equipped with 24/7 surveillance cameras, and secure fencing.
Are there climate-controlled units available?
Yes, we offer climate-controlled units at our St. Catharines location. These units maintain a stable temperature to protect sensitive items such as electronics, antiques, musical instruments, and documents from extreme temperatures and moisture.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is typically one month. We offer flexible month-to-month leases, which means you are not locked into a long-term contract and can adjust your rental period as needed.
Do I need to provide my own lock?
You are welcome to use your own lock, or you can purchase a high-security lock from our facility. It’s important to choose a sturdy, reliable lock to ensure the security of your belongings.
Is insurance required for my stored items?
While not mandatory, we strongly recommend that you insure your stored items. You can either extend your homeowner’s or renter’s insurance to cover your storage unit or purchase insurance through our facilities.
What can’t I store in my unit?
For safety and legal reasons, you cannot store perishables, plants, animals, stolen items, flammable liquids and explosives, hazardous materials, or illegal substances. If you’re unsure about an item, please consult our facility manager.
How do I pay for my storage unit?
We accept various payment methods including credit cards, debit cards, and cash.
Can I transfer to a different size unit if my needs change?
Absolutely! You can transfer to any available unit size at any time, depending on your current or new storage needs. Transfers are subject to unit availability and may involve different pricing.
